All 54 waste tracking providers on the GOV.UK list, compared
Defra will not tell you which software to buy. It lists the providers that connected to the real service and passed the tests, adds a line about buying being at your own risk, and leaves you looking at 54 company names.
So we went through all 54. One at a time, against each provider's own website, on 18 August 2026. What they charge, whether they work without a signal, and whether they know what an end-of-life vehicle is. Nearly every one is linked, so you can check us.
We are one of the 54. So read this the way you would read any salesman's comparison, then click the links. Where we could not find a price we say so rather than write "none". Where a competitor beats us it is in the table. WasteReady works offline too, Weave Comply is cheaper than us, LoadSnap has a DVLA lookup. If we have a cell wrong, tell us and we will fix it and say that we did.
What the columns mean
Two of these are columns we lose. That is on purpose. If a weighbridge link or the carrier side is what you actually need, this table should send you somewhere else.
Unlimited users. A gate tablet, the office and the owner is three logins. Charge for each one and a £30 advert is £45 by the time everyone can sign in.
Works offline. Every yard has a dead spot, usually the far corner where the lorry stops. If the software needs a bar of signal to save a record, a two working day deadline becomes somebody's memory.
Inspection evidence. What you can put in front of an inspector without going through a filing cabinet. Several products keep a searchable archive or export a report, and the good ones do it in one click. Ours builds the pack for a whole vehicle, receipt and photos and depollution together, in one tap.
ELV paperwork. The waste receipt is one of the records a car makes at your gate. There is also the Certificate of Destruction, telling DVLA, depollution, and the switch from hazardous to non hazardous once the fluids and the battery are out.
Sells the parts. Whether the software can list what you pull off the car. One product on this list does it and it is ours. It is in the table because it decides whether software costs you money or makes you some, not to pad our own row.
Weighbridge link. Whether the software takes the weight off your weighbridge instead of somebody reading it and typing it in. We do not do this yet. We take a typed weight like most of this list. If you have a weighbridge and its own software now files to Defra, that is a genuine option, and the thirteen products that do read the bridge are ticked below.
Carrier side. If you collect cars yourself you are also a waste carrier, and from October 2027 that is a reporting job of its own. We do not cover it yet. We record who delivered a car to you, which is a field on the receipt, not the same thing. Half this list does the carrier side properly, and if that is most of your week a skip or haulage product may suit you better today.
Both of those are "not yet" rather than "never". We are still building, and what yards ask for is what gets built next. If a cross in our row is the one thing standing between you and using BreakerHQ, email us and say so. It counts for more than you would think.
A cross means the provider does not advertise it. It does not prove the software cannot do it, so ask them. A tilde means it is partly there, or promised on a tier that has not launched.
Built for a permitted receiving site
The products a yard like yours would actually shortlist. These accept waste at a site and report the receipt, which is the job the mandate creates on 1 October 2026.

Built for carriers and drivers, not for your gate
These are phone apps for the person delivering the waste. Useful to your suppliers from October 2027, when phase 2 brings carriers and brokers in, but they are not the record your site has to file.

Skip hire management systems that added waste tracking. If you run skips as well as a yard they are worth a look. If you break cars, the workflow is somebody else’s.

Weighbridge makers whose software now files to Defra. These reach yards that already own the manufacturer’s kit, and they run at the weighbridge desk rather than in your hand at the gate.

Built for metal recycling. They understand a yard, a weighbridge and a ticket. Neither markets the end-of-life vehicle paperwork an ATF is judged on, and neither lists parts to eBay.

These are real businesses doing something else, or listings with nothing findable behind them. We are not calling any of them bad. We are saying that if you are a breaker looking for gate software, none of these is the answer, and a list of fifty-four shrinks fast once you look.

What the list adds up to
Read the 54 together and it thins out fast. About a third are not aimed at a receiving site at all, being carrier apps, skip systems, weighbridge add-ons, a marketplace, a wastewater tool and an accounting consultancy. Another eight have nothing findable behind the listing. Of what is left, four say they work offline, and one of those four costs around ten times the others.
On the column that decides a breaker's day, the list agrees with itself. Not one provider on it mentions a Certificate of Destruction, a DVLA notification, a depollution record, the hazardous to non hazardous switch, or an EV battery check. The list was built for waste in general. An ATF is a specific trade inside it that nobody else has written software for.
If you want the cheapest product that does the most, it is WasteBolt at £24.99. It keeps a versioned audit trail, exports your history to PDF in one click, imports weights straight off a weighbridge, and gives drivers their own accounts. It does not know what an end-of-life vehicle is, which is the whole reason we exist, but if the ELV column does not matter to you then that is the one to beat.
Doing it yourself
There is no government web form and Defra has said there will not be one, because it tested manual entry and found it burdensome. What is left is a spreadsheet upload on Defra's fixed template, around twenty to twenty five mandatory fields a receipt, and a fresh file for every single submission. Defra calls it temporary and expects to withdraw it. It also carries a £26 a year charge, so it is not free either. More on that in there is no government web form.
Where we come out
We are not the cheapest line above and we have not pretended to be. Weave Comply will file your receipts for £19 a site. If a waste receipt is genuinely all you need, buy the cheap one.
What £39 buys here is the rest of the vehicle. Reg in, DVLA fills the record. The CoD and the DVLA notification are recorded. Depollution is tracked step by step and reclassifies the car when the fluids are out. The evidence pack prints for an inspector in one tap. The parts list to your own eBay account, so a gearbox covers the year. It works in the dead corner of the yard, and the office and the owner sign in free.
